Lil'Guy Cards and Stationary

This week’s #followfriday I am introducing Lil’Guy Cards and Stationery who are based in West Sussex, producing high quality bespoke handmade cards and stationery for all occasions, specialising in weddings but also making cards for: Civil Ceremonies; Christenings; Birth Announcements; Moving House; Birthdays; Anniversary’s.

When  I was getting married in 2008 I decided to make my own invitations as I wasn’t particularly impressed with the standard or cost of ones I’d seen.  Having received many compliments on them from our guests I decided to start Lil’Guy as a business running alongside my day job.

The invitations are usually the first indication your guests will get as to what kind of a wedding you are having, whether it’s going to be a lavish formal occasion or a more relaxed one.

I use top quality and unusal boards, Grade A rhinestone buckles and embellishments, genuine Swarovski crystals, gorgeous ribbons and flowers to create different designs and styles, and it gives me great pleasure when couples receive their order and are thrilled with it!

At the end of September this year I was made redundant from the day job and am now running my own business full time.  There is no large company or franchise, you get my individual attention!

Seasonal wedding fairs tend to be held in the Spring and Autumn.  Make sure you book your stationer as soon as you know all the details as they do get booked up.  Don’t leave things to the last minute as sometimes the embellishments can be out of stock and take a while to arrive.  Give your guests a deadline date to respond to (in a nice way!) as this gives you a timeline to work to.  There are bound to be one or two guests who need to be ‘chivvied’ along, and your reception venue will also have a deadline for numbers.

If you’re having bespoke stationery chat to your stationer so that she can get a feel for your personality and style – and if the first draft isn’t quite to your liking don’t give up!  Try to give as much information as possible to help the process along, if you don’t like diamante ribbon slides or butterflies then saying so at the offset really does help.  Think about the style of card you would like – if you are going to be enclosing lots of additional information sheets then a wallet or pocket style is a good idea as all the information is kept together and doesn’t just fall out and get misplaced.

For a small additional charge many stationers will insert the guest names into the invitation which will save you time and also looks very stylish.  You might also want to pay to have the envelopes addressed for you and have the invitation sent out.  Whatever you decide to do, if there is ANY doubt regarding whether or not the made and sealed invitation needs to be sent as a large letter, pay the additional cost.  It would be a false economy to have beautiful invitations only to have them held up in a sorting office – not to mention costly to sort the problem out!

Having a colour scheme and/or theme for your day is  very effective when taken through to place name cards, table plan and table name/number cards, menu cards, favours and post box for congratulations cards.

Amethyst Photography

This week’s #weddingwednesday I am introducing Amethyst which is owned by Wayne Cook. Based in Teesside, Amethyst Photography are in demand for their photography services around the UK and are now also available for destination weddings

Amethyst Photography was started in 2006 by Wayne Cook, after a short spell as a photographer with a multinational photography company.

Initially we specialised in Weddings but over the last few years, we have diversified into most areas of photography including boudoir and makeovers.
With 3 photographers on hand and a Makeup Artist in situ, we believe that a fun and relaxed atmosphere is the way forward in photography. Our style of photography is professional yet relaxed, to capture just the right image for you, your family or your business.
With a strong emphasis on customer service and value for money, we have quickly become one of Teesside’s busiest photography companies. Our wedding photography packages are available for all budgets and can be tailored to your individual requirements

In 2008 we moved to a fully equipped studio in Stockton on Tees, and from there have grown enormously as a company, with our reputation now meaning that we have now ceased to advertise due to word of mouth recommendations from previous clients, many of whom we now regard as close friends.

OneBigPresent

This week’s #followfriday I am introducing OneBigPresent which is owned by Michelle Mohindra . Michelle wanted to offer people an alternative service when it comes to buying people gifts. Michelle tells us all about why OneBigPresent was created.
I decided to take the steps to create OneBigPresent when I became increasingly frustrated by the lack of gift options as a guest at weddings and birthdays and as someone who often gave cash gifts at special occasions I was never too keen on the tradition of leaving a cash envelope on a table.  The fact that my husbands family are Indian, and give cash gifts for absolutely EVERYTHING, may also have been a contributing factor, but equally as mum to two gadget mad kids I always felt bad when they received gifts that we all knew they would never use!

Ever practical, and with many of us tightening our belts in this economic downturn, I decided to create a neat way of assisting people with that sometimes awkward task of requesting cash gifts for their special occasion and, at the same time, create a secure collection platform for their party/wedding guests! It has taken a great deal of time and patience to get the website to where it is now, but I am extremely proud of what it can achieve!

Not only does it provide each ‘host’ with their own mini web page and guest book as well as the option to upload further vital information, but it also offers a fantastic selection of ‘extras’ from email invites right through to  thank-you for each guest as soon as their contribution is received!

My favourite ‘occasion’ to date was the Civil Partnership of Hugh and Joe which took place in Ireland earlier this year!  Their account closed with an amazing sum of money which they had requested for an extra special trip to New York, but, more importantly they LOVED OneBigPresent and still rave about our service.  That means the world to me!
Finally I should mention that registration with OneBigPresent is completely free and our percentage fees are capped so that you always know exactly where you stand.  Please stop by and check us out:

Daisychain Events

For this weeks Wedding Wednesday blog I am introducing Daisychain Events and its fab owners Kerry Taylor and Jeanette Wardle who are based in County Durham. They offer bespoke wedding and celebration packages to meet your requirements.

Daisychain Events was founded by Kerry Taylor and Jeanette Wardle and we officially started trading in September 2010 after a few months of intense hard work on top of our full time jobs to get the business to the point where we could tell people who we were and offer our services.
We initially looked for gaps in the market and found that not many companies offer a holistic planning service so we teamed up with a few great suppliers to offer a variety of packages.
We offer the traditional wedding planning services such as full wedding planning and on the day coordination but also offer personalised workshops for couples (or whoever else they want to bring along!) who may need a helping hand with where to start on the mammoth task that is planning a wedding! In fact the workshops can be used for whatever the client wants.
We also offer a bridal coaching service. Planning a wedding and marriage itself can be a great source of stress and anxiety for a lot of people. Coaching can help to reduce anxiety, promote better sleep, advise on relaxation techniques and build confidence, all in preparation for the big day and life beyond.

We have also teamed up with a company providing non surgical cosmetic treatments. We offer an exclusive discounted 3 month pre wedding package which includes botox and facial peels for brides who want an extra bit of help to look their best for the big day!
In addition to weddings we also plan any other celebration including children’s parties. Being mothers ourselves we know the amount of hard work, effort and planning which goes into those couple of hours that bring the little people in your life so much pleasure!
That’s why we decided to offer the whole kit and caboodle from invitations and entertainment through to ready wrapped party game presents and party bags. We can also supply food if required. All this usually for less than the price per head that any children’s play areas will charge for a standard party with an hour’s play and a plate of chicken nuggets and chips!
For those that want to plan their own wedding or event we can also offer stand alone services such as a candy buffet and venue styling and decoration.
We are very passionate in what we do and that comes across from the testimonials we have had so far from clients. Weddings and celebrations are just so personal and meaningful and we always feel really privileged to be involved even if we only play a small part. Our philosophy is to ensure that the client is always central to the planning process, and we are there to assist, guide and make suggestions (as well as save them money!) and the client always has the final say.

This Is Wedding Photography

For Wedding Wednesday this week I am introducing This Is Wedding Photography who offer an online service to help people find a wedding photographer in their area. The website is fun of useful information on locating photographers along with wedding photographer styles, wedding image of the month along with a blog

At This Is Wedding Photography we understand that choosing a wedding photographer can be a daunting task.  This is why we’ve tried to make our site as practical and easy to use as possible. Covering the whole of the United Kingdom, we have listings of photographers to cover every region, style and price of wedding photography.
Rather than flicking from one website to another with search engine results, on This Is Wedding Photography you can browse photographers local to you on just one site. As a bride or groom you can search by region, town or postcode to find the photographers closest to you.

Each photographer’s profile has up to 10 photographs for you to view so that you can easily see the standard and style of their work, without having to flick between different web pages.  We also ask all our photographers to include contact details, a link to their own website and testimonials from previous clients.  The latter being particularly helpful for brides and grooms and it is always nice to know what previous clients have thought of the service they received.

If you’re in a hurry you can use our quote request system to request quotes from five wedding photographers local to yourself.  By entering your details once, we will find the wedding photographers best matched to your location and ask them to contact you with a quote.  A much easier and quicker alternative to repeatedly entering your details into different ‘contact me’ pages.

If you are interested in requesting a quote, please use the link below:

Our blog is a new addition to the site, where you can find tips from some of our photographers, monthly wedding photography topics, vote on your favourite wedding image as submitted by listed photographers and of course our forum where you can share ideas and inspirations with brides and photographers alike
